Integrative Veterinary Products was founded by Dr Tanya Meares BVSc, a practising veterinarian with more than 25 years of experience.
Tanya graduated from the University of Queensland and has worked across a broad range of veterinary practice since then. Over the years, an interest in finding additional ways to help animals with chronic and complex health problems led her to further study in veterinary acupuncture, Traditional Chinese Medicine and Chinese herbal medicine, nutrition, equine massage and hoof care.
Rather than seeing conventional and complementary approaches as alternatives to one another, Tanya uses an integrative approach — drawing on conventional veterinary medicine alongside nutrition, acupuncture, herbal medicine and other therapies where they may be useful.

Dogs, horses and a practical approach
While Tanya works with a range of species, she has particular interests in dogs and horses, especially chronic health problems, musculoskeletal conditions, nutrition and the management of older animals.
Horses are also a large part of life outside veterinary practice. Tanya is an endurance rider and has a particular interest in equine nutrition, hoof care, soundness and the management of horses in training and over long distances.
This practical experience also helps shape the equine side of IVP, both in the products selected for the range and in the development of IVP's own equine herbal blends.
Why Integrative Veterinary Products?
Integrative Veterinary Products grew from Tanya's own clinical work and the difficulty of finding reliable, high-quality herbal formulas and other integrative products for veterinary patients in Australia.
Today, IVP provides carefully selected Chinese herbal formulas, nutritional supplements and other integrative products for animals, including Gold Standard Herbs, KAN Essentials and IVP's own range of traditional Chinese herbal formulas.
The products selected for IVP reflect Tanya's own veterinary and integrative work — products she uses, recommends and considers genuinely useful in supporting the animals she treats. The range has developed over time in response to the needs of patients, clients and other veterinary practitioners.
Some products can be purchased directly, while others require veterinary assessment and dispensing. Telehealth consultations are available for people seeking integrative veterinary guidance, those who cannot easily access an integrative veterinarian locally, or those wishing to access practitioner-dispensed herbal formulas.
IVP also supplies herbal products at wholesale prices to veterinarians and eligible animal health practitioners throughout Australia.
